Unshielded Twisted-Pair Cable:

Straigh Through vs. Crossover:



Cable type:

1. straight-through cable

Both ends same direction pin
Used to connect PC to switch, switch to the router.

2. patch cable

1&3,2&6 Exchange the pins on both ends.
Used to connect exchangers-exchanger (trunk connections)

3. flip the cable (console cable)

All pin swap position
Used to connect to the console port of the router/switch to PC
